FATFORM is an art project that challenges the idea of a traditional platform and at the same time uses its basic functionality. Local and international artists meet, exchange, exhibit and perform together until the apocalypse in 2012 at one of the best underground locations in Amsterdam: the rooftop of the Kraaiennest Shopping Centre in Amsterdam-Zuidoost. With an experimental cross programming, different audiences are attracted from various fields such as contemporary art, biology, hip hop, new media, philosophy, performance and reggae and are encouraged (or basically forced) to at least have a peek at the other.

We see this project as an experiment to find a form that is open enough to have space for our diverse and often non-compatible networks. It is important for us to not try to minimize these incompatibilities but rather we would like to propose a form that is FAT enough to contain all radicals.

We work hard. Not only for money but because we are trying to find a form in life that confirms that we have power in shaping our world on multiple levels. We are all entrepreneurs - that means individuals that don't wait for chances - but that know no other way then creating chances for themselves. We are flexible and fast. We operate international and yet our success is based on "a good provinciality" in the scenes of the world. We participate in the Sao Paulo Biennale, we work at G-STAR, we are Dutch snowboard champion, we are cultural scouts at the AFK, we program computers, we teach at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy, we produce videos, we design, we make hip hop & classical music, we speak Patois, Croatian, Papiamentu, Dutch, Hebrew, German, English, Italian, Saran Tong, Portuguese, Swedish and French, we DJ at rio-fashion week, we write graffiti, record dubplates with reggae artists in London and we LOVE THE BIJLMER and are operating from here. Through the last 10 years we have build up a huge creative network both locally and globally. We stimulate exchange. Not only in between different disciplines and nationalities but also  in between various mentalities and social backgrounds, commerce and content, different theories and more important multiple practical and research based approaches. We are FATFORM!
